Enhanced Lead Removal from Wastewater Using Acid-Modified Biochar: A Sustainable Approach
Biochar makes Concrete more Environmentally Friendly
Washington State University (USA) researchers have used biochar to develop environmentally friendly concrete.
They found that biochar was able to absorb nearly a quarter of its weight in carbon dioxide from the air with a strength comparable to ordinary concrete. Indeed, the biochar-amended cement reached a compressive strength comparable to ordinary cement of about 4,000 pounds per square inch After 28 days.
A provisional patent application has been filed on the team’s carbon-negative concrete. They are also seeking industry partners to scale up production for field demonstrations and licensing.
